Profile
At the University of Alberta, I majored in art through the Faculty of Education, driven by a love for painting and a desire to spark that same joy and creativity in young minds. After graduating, I spent a decade teaching art in junior and senior high schools, sharing my passion with the next generation.
Then life, in all its unpredictability, airlifted me on a very different path—an amazing journey that took me to Nigeria for several years. Though I drifted from the canvas, creativity never left me. In Nigeria, I immersed myself in publishing as an editor and designer. Later, back in Canada, I wore many hats: computer programmer, software instructor, business analyst, process modeller, and writer.
For several decades, I did not put brush to canvas, and yet, the longing never left me. The ache to paint lingered quietly, always present. When COVID-19 brought the world to a halt, it gave me something unexpected—time. With my consulting projects on pause, I finally returned to painting, and I hadn’t looked back until my daughter’s sudden passing in 2022, after which I simply could not paint. Work became my refuge. If I did not have time to think, I could manage.
Painting has since become my way of healing—therapy for a broken heart, my voice, and a way to keep breathing. I love to use colour like music, with rhythm, harmony, and feeling. Each painting becomes a kind of visual symphony for me, rooted in deep emotion. Every canvas tells a story woven into its creation, a story of passion, music, resilience and awe. My art isn’t just seen; I hope it’s experienced. Each painting is an invitation to step into a world where colour meets sound.
My art has been featured at both Canopy Studios and local art shows in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. In 2026, my work, Rainbow Rhapsody, was honoured with an Art Star Award in the 2026 CFA Artist of the Year international competition, presented by the Circle Foundation for the Arts, marking a significant milestone in my artistic journey. The award-winning piece and three other works are featured in Art Stars Magazine, a digital publication created in collaboration with World Wide Art in March of 2026.
I continue to develop my artistic voice, creating works that celebrate the harmony between colour, sound, and human experience. I have been inspired recently to interpret poems, such as Robert Frost’s “The Road Not taken”, weaving into the paintings my life experiences.
Like music, painting soothes my soul.
My original paintings, as well as limited edition prints, are available for sale. Check out the Gallery and the Art Prints pages for details. If you are interested in my work, please send me a message.
